OC-EO Art Present: "Hometown" 30th June - 12th July 2008 Peter Quintana and the Partners of Oc-Eo Art announce the inaugural solo exhibition in London of modern and contemporary paintings by He Hong Wei. Entitled "Hometown".

Twenty-Five works from He Hong Wei's Hometown series will be on view and offered for sale and 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the China Earthquake Appeal.

He Hong Wei, born 1971, in Inner Mongolia, has won accolades for his work on paper documenting the Asian SARS crisis of 2003, and has exhibited at several major exhibitions in Beijing. Showing for the first time in London, his Hometown series is an exploration of the significance of birth place in Chinese culture and perhaps a statement about the price of progress in the world's fastest growing economy. Rooted in traditional Chinese brush painting, but also strongly influenced by Cezanne and Picasso, Hong Wei's series of abstract/impressionist land- and city-scapes is like an ancient, epic Chinese scroll painting, linking the past, present and future with powerful and emotional memories. However, they are also a series of independent paintings, each with their own artistic individuality and aesthetics.
"Hometown" will be on show from June

A private view and champagne reception VIPs, collectors and enthusiasts will be held from 18.30hrs to 21.30hrs on Tuesday, July 1.
Please visit www.oc-eo.co.uk for details and to request an invitation.

Canadian Landscapes 4th - 9th February 2008 An exhibition of works by Canadian artists Catherine Perehudoff & Graham Fowler

Two different interpretations and painterly translations of nature into art can be seen at the exhibit of Catherine Perehudoff and Graham Fowler.

Having exhibited extensively in Canada, the U.S.A. and Norway over the last thirty years, they will now have their work on display and presented
by art dealer and collector, Calvin Redlick.

Having a strong connection to the land, Catherine Perehudoff’s approach is one of blending a naturalist’s observations with a Romanticist’s vision.

Graham Fowler’s paintings are realistic representations derived from experience, direct observation, and photographic research resulting in an almost mathematical analysis of light and colour. Juxtaposed next to each other the work offers a visual conversation between the variations of perspective and style.

This exhibition can be viewed Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 7pm.

ICONS - Noreen Denzil Portrait Artist 21st – 26th July 2008 ‘‘Drawing and painting has always been my passion from early childhood; at age 10 my portrait of Elvis was a runner-up on Blue Peter! I am happy to say that I did progress and received my first commission in my late teens. I developed an interest and was inspired to pursue portraiture when visiting Montmartre in my early 20’s. There, I was privileged to watch the many artists produce outstanding pastel portraits.

I have always been fascinated with faces because of their unique characteristics. My exhibition is based on iconic figures past and present who have not only inspired and influenced the areas of music, art, sport and entertainment, but have made us examine our conscience and provided food for thought! They are all individuals, who in my opinion, embody the saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

I hope my exhibition will be enjoyed by all who visit the gallery.’’

Andrew Hewkin "The Tale of Two Valleys, Vegas and Nappa" 20th - 25th October 2008 A note from the Artist:

Arriving in Vegas is always exciting anf this was no exception. Since I last visited in 1979 (by car) it has changed immensely, it now had the added extras of Eygypt, New York, and Venice, and yet had retained its adult Disney World status. I love the decadence it exudues and its kitsch lifestyle. After five days of party town I flew to Napa to comb the wine trail, the tranquillity and the general laid back air was very refreshing. After a week in the vineyards I returned to Vegas; the concept of Two Valleys evolved –The Valleys, so diverse yet not so geographically far apart.
